Description

This classic Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine, manufactured in 1911, represents one of the most enduring designs of the American frontier. Chambered in .32 WCF (.32-20), this lightweight carbine was a trusted companion for ranch hands, hunters, and lawmen throughout the early 20th century. Designed by John M. Browning, the Model 1892 simplified the legendary Model 1886 action into a more compact, smooth-operating rifle ideal for saddle carry.

This example features the signature saddle ring on the left side of the receiver and a 20-inch round barrel, giving it a classic Western profile. The gumwood stock bears a faintly carved “H” on the left side—likely a period owner’s initial—adding authentic character. The rifle shows an honest mix of blue finish with brown and gray patina, along with traces of oxidation and light pitting typical of its age.

Mechanically functional with visible rifling, this carbine remains a fine representative of Winchester’s craftsmanship and the rugged simplicity that made the Model 1892 a legend among lever-action rifles.
