Glock 17 Gen 2 9mm 17rd 1993 Tupperware Restricted LEO Mag

Glock 17 Gen 2 9mm 17rd 1993 Tupperware Restricted LEO Mag

This Glock 17 Gen 2 is in good, used condition and comes in a very nice vintage Tupperware Glock box. This Gen2 has factory night sights and Hogue rubber grips with finger grooves installed for added grip. The magazine included with the gun is in very nice shape and is Law Enforcement Only/ Restricted marked. The finish is in good condition due to it’s strength when it was manufactured, but there is some minor wear visible on top of the slide from holster usage it would seem. We believe that this particular pistol was manufactured in 1993 based on the serial number. The triggers on the Gen 2 guns seem to be on the nicer side as well, and this one would make an excellent shooter. Included with the gun is one 17rd magazine and the Tupperware box.

  • A 1993 Glock would not have originally shipped with a “Restricted Law Enforcement/Government Use Only” magazine. Those markings were introduced after the 1994 U.S. Federal Assault Weapons Ban. If a 1993 pistol has a restricted magazine today, it was almost certainly added later.

Glock 17 Gen 2 (1993) Specifications

  • Caliber: 9×19mm Parabellum
  • Capacity: 17-round detachable magazine
  • Action: Striker-fired, Safe Action

  • Overall length: 7.95 in (202 mm)

Gen 2 Features

Compared with the original Gen 1:

  • Checkering added to the front and back straps
  • Serrated/checkered trigger guard
  • No accessory rail
  • No finger grooves
  • No interchangeable backstraps
  • Early Gen 2 pistols retain the classic smooth appearance collectors appreciate.

Original 1993 Packaging

A factory-original 1993 package would generally include:

  • Early plastic “Tupperware” storage box
  • Two 17-round magazines
  • Magazine loader
  • Cleaning rod and brush
  • Owner’s manual
  • Factory test envelope/target (sometimes)
  • Matching serial-number label on the box

The early Glock “Tupperware” cases have become collectible in their own right, especially if the label matches the pistol.

“Restricted LEO/Government Only” Magazine

Magazines marked:

RESTRICTED LAW ENFORCEMENT / GOVERNMENT USE ONLY

were produced during the 1994–2004 U.S. Federal Assault Weapons Ban.

Typical markings include:

These magazines are genuine Glock factory magazines but are not correct for a factory-original 1993 package. They were manufactured later under U.S. law for law enforcement and government sales.

Collector Value

Collectors generally value:

  • Original matching-number pistol and box
  • Original 1993 magazines (without LEO markings)
  • Original accessories
  • Minimal wear
  • Matching serial-number box label

A later LEO-restricted magazine typically does not increase the value of a 1993 Glock 17 package, although it may have interest as a separate period-correct magazine from the ban era.

If you have the actual pistol or listing, I can also help determine:

  • approximate production month from the serial prefix,
  • whether the magazines are original to the gun,
  • whether the box is correct for 1993,
  • and provide an estimated collector value based on photos.
